Classic Marble Cake

Updated: Dec 14, 2021

Feel like eating a chocolate cake? or vanilla cake? chocolate? or vanilla? When there is a dilemma, why not go ahead with this classic marble cake!

I still remember eating this beautiful marble cake when I was a kid - many many years ago - it was so nice, buttery, and the taste of both chocolate and vanilla in my mouth was really hard to forget - and resist :-)

Ingredients:

225 gr butter, softened

200 gr sugar

4 eggs

225 gr self-raising flour

80 ml milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 tbsp cocoa powder

Method:

Heat the oven to 180 degree celcius and grease a 20 cm round cake tin.

Using mixer, beat the butter and then put in the sugar and beat them.

Add the eggs, one at a time and mix well after each edition.

Fold the flour, milk, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.

Divide the mixture into two bowls .

Stir the cocoa powder into one of the bowls.

Take two spoons and use them to put the chocolate and vanilla batter into the tin alternately.

Take a skewer and swirl it around the mixture in the tin a few times to create a marbled effect.

Bake the batter for 50 minutes or until skewer comes out clean.

Turn out onto a cooling rack and leave to cool.

Note:

I tend to use less sugar than most recipes as I try to reduce our sugar intake. If you prefer it to be more sweet, you need to add more sugar up to around 225 gr (same as the butter).

Happy Baking!
